Meet Jonathan

Service.
Curiosity.
Conviction.

I’m Jonathan A. Plumb. My life brings together military service, education, history, technology, faith, and family. Those experiences shape the questions I ask—and the work I want to do for my community.

The experiences behind my views

More than
a political label.

A veteran’s perspective

I served in the U.S. Army as a mortarman, including a combat deployment to Iraq. Service gave me a lasting respect for duty, preparation, and the people who bear the consequences of decisions made far away.

I bring that perspective to public life: take the responsibility seriously, understand the problem, and remember the people affected.

An educator’s approach

I’m an educator with a master’s degree in teaching and a background spanning history, English, and computer science. I also teach in our local homeschool co-op.

My conviction that students learn at different rates informs my support for advancement by demonstrated mastery. My work with students also informs a broader principle: help people understand, then give them room to exercise responsibility.

A builder’s curiosity

My interests include history, writing, software, game development, and music. I enjoy connecting ideas and turning them into something useful.

My novel, The Making of a King, tells the rise of King Arthur through the eyes of Blaise, Merlin’s apprentice. Explore the book.

That is why I’m interested in practical uses of new technology—from better traffic systems to tools that help citizens understand how their government works.

A neighbor’s commitment

Spokane Valley is home. I’m a husband and father, and I care about the kind of community our children will inherit.

I’ve brought neighborhood traffic concerns to City Council, asked questions about proposed road projects, and pushed for clear answers about city policies. Good local government begins with paying attention to the people who live here.

Faith & freedom

Firm in my faith.
Committed to your freedom.

I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My faith in Jesus Christ is central to my life.

That conviction goes hand in hand with defending the freedom of others to worship differently. I can disagree with someone’s theology and still stand up for their right to live, work, and worship peacefully in our community.

My position on religious liberty

A conversation starts with listening.

Have a question, a different perspective, or a concern in your neighborhood? I want to hear it.
